PRIME MINISTER SINGH TO COPENHAGEN
Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen says:
”India is an important actor in the battle against global warming. I therefore welcome Prime Minister Singh’s announcement of his participation in the climate conference in Copenhagen on 18 December. Prime Minister Singh has shown strong leadership on behalf of India and, along with other world leaders, has involved himself positively in obtaining a common and fair outcome in December. I look forward to greeting Prime Minister Singh.
With the Indian announcement, at present 105 leaders from all over the world will participate. Together these 105 leaders represent 82 percent of globe’s population, 89 percent of the world GDP and 80 percent of the world’s current emissions. If an agreement can be reached within this group it could change the future of the globe, thus making Copenhagen the turnaround with regards to global warming we all wish for. As host of the climate conference Denmark will do its utmost to unite the leaders of the world in an ambitious, fair and efficient agreement.”
